After a successful State meet this weekend, the Pella Track Club will be taking the week off. All athletes who competed in the State meet qualified for the Regional meet in at least 1 event. I will be sending out more information to those athletes moving on to Regionals.
I am encouraging athletes to take a short break from the track. Stay active, but let's recharge are our batteries and come back next week ready to prepare for Regionals.
The US Championships are in Des Moines (Drake Stadium) this week (Wednesday through Sunday). This is a great opportunity to see some of the nations top track and field talent. I am sure tickets can still be purchased on-line or at the door.

The weather is forcing me to cancel practice for tonight, Thursday June 10th. I am going to move the time to tomorrow night, Friday June 11th. I know that there are some individuals preparing for the multis this weekend.
I will send out USATF State Meet information for registration tonight. Anyone interested in competing in the State meet must get me there info by Saturday @ noon. Stay tuned for details.
Due to a large number number of athletes going to the pool and taking advantage of the last day of school for PCSD, I am canceling practice for today, June 9th. We will resume tomorrow at the scheduled times.

Practices for the week of Monday, May 17th. As you can see from the times below, we are expanding the available practices and adding an older group. This should allow those individuals in other sports to find a time that accommodates their schedules. Central is still practicing for the next week and a half, so times need to remain in the early evening.
Central will hosting its last meet on Wednesday and the High School State meet is being held in Des Moines, Thursday - Saturday.
Remember that you can choose the practices that fit your schedule. You are not required to attend all practices.

Tuesday -

Thursday

Once again outside events affect available practice dates. There are Middle School and High School home meets on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Being a supporter of all track programs (and a Dad to runners in each meet) I will be working at both meets. On Wednesday the annual Tulip Time Klompen Classic is scheduled to run. I encourage all Pella Track Club athletes to participate through running, walking, or some other mode. This is a great mid week workout, even for the sprinters in the club. Finally, Central hosts a college meet on Friday, May 7th.
That leaves us with Thursday, May 6th and Sunday, May 9th. I will start breaking up practice into age groups. Determine your athlete's age group by their birth year. You can fine a breakdown of the USATF age groups on the website and in the Parent's Information.
Location: Central College Outdoor Track
Practice Schedule:
Thursday, May 6th
Bantam and younger from 5:45 - 6:30
Midgets and older from 6:30 - 7:15
Sunday, May 9th
Bantam and younger from 3:00-3:45
Midgets and older from 4:00 - 5:00
Due to the less than favorable weather conditions, we will not have practice this afternoon (Sunday, April 25th). Cold and wet conditions individually can usually be tolerated, but when combined, they make for difficult training. I also consider that there is school tomorrow and getting an athlete sick does not generally help their education :)
I will post practice times for the upcoming week later today.
For you brave souls, getting out and just being active would be sufficient today. No specific workout would neet to happen.
