Pella Atletieks Track & Field Club

Ames Track Club meet will be held on Saturday, May 30, at the Gilbert High School track. Start time is currently slated for 10:00AM.

12:00 Registration, 1:00 Events start--More info TBA.

We will reschedule our initial practice for Wednesday, April 15th. We will use the same times as before. See below.

Reminder:
**If weather is very cold or rainy...check our website at least 1 hour PRIOR to practice to see if we have cancelled. We will not call parents and we don't call KNIA/KRLS.
** Parents of sub-bantam and bantam athletes, make sure you pick up your child on time. We will have your child wait in front of the bleachers by the track for you to pick up...we will NOT send them up to the parking lot without a parent escort, as we are not comfortable letting children of this age monitor themselves away from the track, so do not ask them to meet you anywhere other than at the track.
** Dress warm and bring water.
** If you can't make this practice due to conflicts it is OK. Our season lasts until June, so there is plenty of time to run with us when you can.

Wednesday, April 15th
Sub-Bantam division (8 years younger--Birthdate is 2001 or later) Practice time: 6:15-7:00PM
Bantam (9 and 10 year olds--Birthdate is in 1999 or later) Practice time: 6:15-7:00 PM

Midget………………11 & 12 year olds 1997 & 1998 Practice time: 7:00-7:45PM
Youth………………..13 & 14 years olds 1995 & 1996 Practice time: 7:00-7:45PM
Intermediate…………15 & 16 year olds 1993 & 1994 Practice time: 7:00-7:45PM

USATF meet to be held in Grinnell. Registration begins at 1:00 on Sunday. Location: Grinnell High School track.

The Cedar Rapids Track Club meet will be Sunday, May 24 at Thomas Park in Marion, IA. This is the Marion HS facility located at the corner of 3rd Ave and 1st St, in Marion. See you there!!

DIRECTIONS TO MARION (Cedar Rapids Track Club) MEET, SUNDAY MAY 24
From I-380:
East on Blairs Ferry to Marion Blvd, about 3 miles;
Turn left onto Marion Blvd, cross the bridge, then the first right onto 1st Ave which veers to the right. 1st Ave leads directly to the parking lot for the stadium.
Google maps (satellite view): Thomas Park, Marion, IA; you will see the track just east of the park.

Registration time will be @ 1:00PM
Events begin @ 2:00 PM

Lone Tree will host an AAU sanctioned track and field meet on Saturday May 16, 2009.
The meet will be held at the Lone Tree High School Track at 303 South DeVoe Street
Lone Tree, Iowa 52755
Registration will take place between 8:00 am to 9:30 am
Events begin at 10:00 am

Participation FEE: $5.00
Spectator FEE: $2.00

*** athletes must have a current AAU card to participate***
Cards will be available for purchase at the meet for $12.00 if you do not have a current membership.

Uniforms and Pella Atletieks apparel are now available for order at The Sports Page. We have attached the 2009 order form and apparel photos. Please make orders for uniforms to the Sports Page by April 17th in order to have your uniforms ready for meets in May.

If order for a Pella Atletieks track athlete to participate in USATF state, regional and national meets, they MUST be members of USA Track and Field (USATF). So, if an athlete is a member of USA Triathlon (USAT) they would have to purchase a separate membership.

AAU memberships from any sport covers ALL AAU sanctioned events. So, if an athlete has an AAU membership from basketball or gymnastics, he/she does NOT need to purchase a separate membership.

The majority of club track meets in the state of Iowa are USATF sanctioned. Athletes typically do NOT have to have a USATF membership to run in these meets, however they MUST have a USATF membership to participate in the state, regional and national meets. If your child chooses to run in AAU sponsored meets, they MUST have an AAU membership number to enter.

There a few meets that our club attends that have no membership requirements: Panther Relays, Hershey's Track and Field Events, and the Summer Iowa Games.
