"# All qualifying marks must be attained between January 1, 2007 and June 15, 2008."
Just found this on the USATF site. The 15th is a Sunday next year. So I think that means we could hold the meet June 14, 15 and still make room for an Olympic qualifier.
We'd need to look into an automatic timing system, sponsor, and start promoting.
I am not able to hold a Bantam Sub-bantam practice tonight (Thursday). The Midget/Youth practice will go as scheduled due to the State meet this weekend.
This week we will practice on Tuesday and Thursday for runners and jumpers. The times will be as posted earlier for June. Throwers will practice Wednesday and Friday from 4:00PM to 5:00PM. I will post more information on the State meet later tonight.
We will have only one practice this week, Tuesday June 5th. I will follow the times I posted last week. I know there are some conflicts, but do the best you can. 9 & under (3rd graders on down) from 5:00PM to 5:45PM. 10 - 13 (4th - 6th graders) from 5:30PM - 6:30PM and all older athletes at 6:30PM - 7:30PM.
If you have photos that you would like to share from any of our club meets, please send to Kari or Eric and we will get them added to the site ASAP! Clearly our photos tend to be Pingel-sided, so we welcome any photos you have for us. Also, if you are not comfortable with your child's image on our site, feel free to let us know and we will not post them. We will never attach names to the photos...just running categories.
Starting in June I will be scheduling practices by age groups. Right know, I am looking to start the Sub-Bantams and Bantams (10 and Under) at 5:00PM and going for 45min. The Midget (11-12) and Youth (13-14) will practice from 5:30-6:30PM, and the Intermediate (15-16) and Young Men/Women (17-18) from 6:15-7:15PM. The 15min overlap will allow the group coming in to warm-up as the other group finishes and be ready to go as coaches become available.
The weather doesn't look promising. I am recommending not traveling to Ames. Call 628-4689 for details. Check out the attached radar image.
Just a reminder that Thursday's practice will focus on the throws only. If you have questions about the Ames Impact meet this Saturday, please read the blog post OR you can contact Eric or Kari Pingel.

Ames Impact's annual meet is this Saturday, May 26 at Ames High School. Registration is at 8:30am. The meet starts at 10:00am. Caravan from Pella leaves at 7:30 AM from the Fareway parking lot. Be sure to bring plenty of fluids and strong sunscreen. May want to bring a copy of your child's birth certificate (just in case the meet officials want proof of your child's age.) So far, we have not been asked to show them.

Take E. 13th St. exit off of Interstate 35
Weather reports predict rain on Wednesday. Coach Pingel will determine if practice needs to be canceled by 5:15 PM. You can check the website for the cancelation or call 780-1503 and listen to the voicemail announcement.
Practice runs 6-7 PM and the focus will be high jump, long and short sprints.
Thursdays focus will be on throwing events only.
